FUNDING:  Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA)

COVERAGE AREA:  Counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward

PURPOSE:  Provides funding for home and rental unit modifications necessary for accessibility for service members and Veterans who were injured in the line of duty.  

SELECTION CRITERIA:  STEPS receive referrals from other organizations or directly from clients, at which point a staff member will do an intake with the Veteran and document the physical issues/required modifications within the residence.

VHDA will pay up to $6,000 of the contractor’s estimate.  Contractors have 120 days to complete the modifications after the paperwork has been signed.
